Mateus Cardoso presented a webinar at the University of Nebraska about targeting of nano-objects. The talk started with the intrinsic hability of the SARS-CoV-2 to target ACE2 receptors. Then, the discussion jumped to synthetic nanoparticles where Mateus Cardoso showed to the audience the lastest developments from the research group.

The work deals the redispersibility of mesopores silica nanoparticles (aprox. 100 nm) in relevant biologicla media. Toxicity was also probed.

Mateus Cardoso was invited to present an online seminar at the Federal University of Pelotas (UFPel) which is him "home university". Mateus Cardoso got his bachelors Chemistry from the UFPel in 2001. He was invited to described to the undergrad students about his carrear as well as indicate important points and topics that must be considered by the students for their future.

Mateus Cardoso presented a webinar at Universidad Nacional de San Martin. During the talk it was discussed how nanoparticles can be target specific. Due to the pandemic, a special attention was given to explain the SARS-CoV-2 effectivity. Picture taken by Dr. Paula Angelomé from CNEA. Interestingly that even her cat (Buñu) was attentively following to the scientific discussion.
Mateus Cardoso virtually at INIFTA-Argentine

Mateus Cardoso presented an online seminar for researchers and students of INIFTA-Argentine.
During the talk (~40 min) it was shown how colloidaly stable nanoparticles can be used to target cells, viruses and bacteria. After the presentation, along ~50 min discussion, excellent discussion and possible collaborative works were sorted out.
Our group has moved back to LNLS-Sirius

Our group group has moved back to LNLS-Sirius. Mateus Cardoso will lead the Soft & BioMaterials Division which encompasses a few beamlines as well as a couple of strategic laboratories.
The group will be now focused on developing synchrotron strategies to properly probe and understand the nanobiointerface. These advances will be likely contribute to future advances of personalized medicine.

Mateus Cardoso was one of the invited lectures of 2nd Meeting on Biofunctional Materials held at the CBPF in Rio de Janeiro. Mateus Cardoso talk was mainly based on describing the challenges on developing nanoparticles which are colloidally stable at the same time they can be target-specific. Camila Silveira, Gabriela Mondo and Andressa Schneid also presented their works.

Mateus Cardoso visits PUC-RS

Mateus Cardoso was invited to visit PUC-RS as a tentative to establish scientific collaborations. During the visit, it was shown the amazing infrasctructere available at PUC-RS (mainly related to in vivo studies). Mateus Cardoso was also invited to give a talk where he showed the latest advances of the group related to nanoparticles targeting.

Mateus Cardoso in Sirius-Synchrotron Workshop

Mateus Cardoso was invited to present nanomedicine problems related to synchrotron nano-imaging during the First Sirius Workshop on X-ray Nanospectroscopy, Nanodiffraction and Nanoimaging (CN3).
Mateus Cardoso was describing how critical problems related to the low efficiency of nanomedicines can be overcome by using synchrotron radiation.
Mateus Cardoso in Montpellier - heart of degradable silica

Mateus Cardoso was invited to visit the Institute Charles Gerhardt in Montpellier (ICGM) where fruitful discussions about future collaborations were possible. Mateus Cardoso gave a talk describing the relationship between colloidal stability and nanomedicine application. In addition, it was a pleasure to meet Karim Bouchmella our former group member which works at the ICGM.

Mateus Cardoso - visiting Professor at the Université de Paris

Mateus Cardoso was serving as a visiting Professor of the Université de Paris during September.
Mateus Cardoso joined Dr. Jean-François Berret Lab to complete some work previously done in Brazil (during Jean-François Berret visit) and in Paris when a Master student spent 3 months in Paris. A new paper has been written and soon it will be submitted to publication.
Mateus Cardoso talks about nanomedicine

Mateus Cardoso was one of the lectures during the Third Introductory Course on Nanotechnology and Nanotoxicology. This course was held at LNNano and during two full days the audience heard about a diversity of topics related to Nanotech and Nanotox. Mateus gave a talk describing the nanomedicine evolution and the new future trends related to this topic.
CNPEM open day

CNPEM opened its doors to the public receiving more than 16000 visitors which could be inside a synchrotron source, visit and get close to the state-of-the-art microscopes and much more.
Our group was located at the main entrance of LNNano where we were explaining in a very simplistic way all concepts behind nanomedicine.

Mateus Cardoso at the Brazilian Academy of Sciences Meeting

Mateus Cardoso has been to Fortaleza for the Brazilian Academy of Sciences (ABC) Meeting. Along this meeting it was discussed scientific funding crisis in Brazil as well as strategies and trends of research worldwide. Furthermore, ABC has clearly invited all young scientists for being more active in social media in order to spread out the importance of science in Brazil.

Dr. Jessica Fernanda Affonso de Oliveira concluded her doctoral studies presenting her work describing how antibody-coated silica nanoparticles can efficiently be targeted to lymphoma cells without any residual toxicity to healthy and red-blood cells.

Mateus Cardoso is visiting University of Miami (UM)

Mateus Cardoso spent 15 days at University of Miami working in Marc Knecht Lab due to a collaboration established between both groups (funded by Fapesp and UM) on coating silica nanoparticles with peptides for biological applications. Mateus Cardoso also gave a talk showing the last results of our group. We look forward to seeing Marc Knecht in Brazil.
